In a bid to boost cooperation in the field of intellectual property or IP, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA) – located in East China's Shanghai city – welcomed a delegation from Singapore on April 12.

The meeting, led by Rui Wenbiao, director general of SIPA and Rena Lee, chief executive of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore or IPOS, was marked by a symposium aimed at deepening working relations.

Rui highlighted the historical ties between the two sides and praised their effective cooperation under the Shanghai-Singapore Comprehensive Cooperation Council.

He presented an overview of Shanghai's IP activities and recent initiatives, reaffirming the city's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for IP protection and development, benefiting both domestic and international businesses.

Lee praised China's progress in IP rights and acknowledged the role of SIPA in promoting business innovation and contributing to a world-class business climate.

She expressed her eagerness to deepen the dialogue and shared insights on Singapore's IP strategies, including the upcoming IP Week @ SG 2024.

The meeting was also attended by Yu Chen, deputy director general of SIPA, Tan Wei Hao, principal assistant director of the strategic planning and policy department of IPOS and other key personnel.
