The anti-piracy team of The Walt Disney Company, led by chief legal counsel Jonathan Whitehead, visited the Pudong New Area Intellectual Property Administration on Sept 9 for a working exchange. Fu Jun, director of the administration, met with the delegation.
Fu welcomed the team and noted that, over the past decade since Disney established its presence in Shanghai, the company has become part of the city's tourism and cultural landscape.
He said Pudong's integrated IP administration system and experience in national reform pilots have helped strengthen IP protection and foster a supportive business environment for companies including Disney.
Fu called for closer and more regular communication with Disney to improve coordination on IP protection and jointly address complex and emerging issues.

Whitehead thanked the administration for its long-standing support and spoke positively about Pudong's business environment and the progress made in terms of IP protection.
The two sides agreed to deepen their cooperation in response to increasingly decentralized online infringement and emerging forms of piracy. They will strengthen specialized exchanges and share international experience on issues including AI-generated content and the commercial use of character images, while exploring new approaches to balancing technological innovation with IP protection in the AI era.
