Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area held a special intellectual property (IP) exchange session on Aug 18 for one-person companies (OPCs), focusing on trademark management, compliant brand operations and rights protection.

The session was organized by the Lin-gang Special Area Administration for Market Regulation. Representatives from government authorities, Zhongkai & Partners (Shanghai) and several OPCs attended the event.
The administration provided a systematic introduction to trademark application practices tailored to OPCs. It covered key areas including trademark registration procedures, coordinated classification strategies, preliminary similarity searches and standardized registration. OPCs were encouraged to establish a proactive trademark management mechanism featuring early planning, dynamic management and source-level risk prevention.
Legal experts from Zhongkai & Partners (Shanghai) drew on typical judicial cases to explain common trademark infringement practices and provide practical guidance on trademark portfolio planning, infringement response and rights protection.
The discussion also addressed issues raised by OPC representatives, including difficulties in trademark registration, compliant online trademark utilization and the handling of infringement disputes. Relevant departments provided guidance based on examination standards, industry practices and judicial interpretations.
The Lin-gang Special Area Administration for Market Regulation will continue to strengthen IP services for OPCs throughout their development cycle, helping them improve trademark portfolios, standardize brand operations, enhance rights protection and unlock the value of IP assets.
