The 2026 WIPO-China (ECUPL) Summer School opened on June 29 at the East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) in Shanghai, marking the 10th anniversary of the international intellectual property (IP) education program.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), China National Intellectual Property Administration, Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, and ECUPL, as well as experts, faculty, and students from around the world.
The program has attracted nearly 100 students from various countries, including Russia, Nigeria, Cambodia, Canada, Brazil, and Peru. Over the past decade, it has trained nearly 1,000 IP professionals from more than 50 countries and regions.
Launched in 2015, the WIPO-China (ECUPL) Summer School was the first WIPO summer school program in mainland China. It has since become an important platform for global IP education and exchange.
This year's program covers emerging topics such as artificial intelligence governance, data protection, international IP dispute resolution, and IP protection in the sports industry. Experts from WIPO, courts, universities, and industry will share practical experience and insights.
