The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center and the Hainan High People's Court co-hosted the Seminar on IP Protection and Diversified Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in Boao, Hainan province on June 17.
Liu Hua, director of the WIPO Office in China; Dai Jun, president of the High People's Court of Hainan Province; Yu Xiaoyu, deputy director-general of the International Cooperation Department of the Supreme People's Court of China; and Lang Guimei, deputy chief judge of the Third Civil Division of the Supreme People's Court of China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Ignacio de Castro, director of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, addressed the seminar via video.
Yu Xiaoyu, deputy director-general of the International Cooperation Department of the Supreme People's Court of China, and Lang Guimei, deputy chief judge of the Third Civil Division of the Supreme People's Court of China, also delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
Liu said the WIPO Office in China will continue to serve as a bridge, deepening cooperation with Chinese courts and improving entrusted mediation services for foreign-related IP dispute resolution.
Since 2020, Lyu Guoqiang, head of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Shanghai Service, said the center has concluded over 200 cases involving parties from 20 countries, with a 50 percent mediation success rate.
The seminar focused on IP protection and diversified dispute resolution, including AI-related intellectual property protection and seed industry IP issues, and shared experiences and built consensus on the development of future cooperation framework mechanisms.
