Qibao Huangjingua (golden melon), a geographical indication (GI) product from Shanghai's Minhang district, drew attention at a summer fruit tasting and promotion event, highlighting progress in GI brand development and agricultural quality improvement.

The event was held at Shanghai Xinze Nong Agricultural Technology Co Ltd under the guidance of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration and the National Bulk Vegetable Industry Technology System Shanghai Comprehensive Experimental Station.
At the tasting area, Qibao Huangjingua became a focal point, earning praise for its distinctive flavor and texture. The enthusiastic response reflected growing interest in locally developed, high-quality agricultural products among participants and visitors.
The product had previously received geographical indication certification from the China National Intellectual Property Administration. Minhang authorities, together with agricultural departments, have continued to support its development and strengthen its protection.
The group standard T/SAS0046-2025 has been introduced to standardize production practices while preserving traditional quality characteristics. Efforts are underway to elevate it to a Shanghai local standard.
Looking ahead, Minhang will further promote the cultural heritage of Qibao Huangjingua, appropriately expand its cultivation, and strengthen its position as a recognized GI brand supporting rural vitalization and agricultural modernization.
