The Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA) held a working exchange meeting with the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) of Thailand on June 10 in Shanghai, focusing on cooperation in intellectual property (IP) protection, enforcement, and innovation governance.

Auramon Supthaweetham, director-general of Thailand's DIP, and Deputy Director-General Wiloke Chongkunchaisuk led the delegation. Zhu Qigao, director-general of SIPA, received the guests, while Yu Chen, deputy director-general of SIPA, also attended the meeting.
Zhu introduced Shanghai's recent progress in IP work and outlined SIPA's functions. He said the city will continue improving its IP system, strengthening protection mechanisms, and expanding international cooperation to support innovation-driven development.
He also expressed hope to enhance exchanges with Thailand's DIP, Thai institutions in Shanghai, and Thai enterprises operating in the city, while welcoming suggestions to further improve Shanghai's IP environment.
Auramon Supthaweetham praised Shanghai's market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized business environment, and thanked SIPA for its support for Thai enterprises doing business in the city. She also expressed a willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation.
Both sides exchanged views on geographical indication protection, IP finance, enforcement, and artificial intelligence applications in IP examination. Officials from both organizations, and representatives from the Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Consulate-General, attended the meeting.
