The Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA) outlined comprehensive intellectual property (IP) services and protection measures for the 12th China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (CSITF) at a news conference of the Shanghai Municipal Government Information Office on June 3. These efforts aim to foster innovation and facilitate technology trade.

Yu Chen, deputy director-general of SIPA, said the fair is expected to feature themed IP events, professional forums, exhibitions and service guarantees. The initiatives seek to cultivate respect for innovation, unleash market vitality in technological factors, and ensure the smooth and high-level organization of the event.

Activities include briefings for foreign consular officials and enterprises, a Belt and Road IP protection seminar and an AI-focused forum on innovation and IP protection in emerging industries, all aimed at strengthening international cooperation and investor confidence.

A dedicated IP exhibition zone is set to host 15 enterprises with high-value patents and 31 core technologies in biomedicine, advanced manufacturing, new materials, optical communication and artificial intelligence, covering the full innovation chain from research to application.

On-site services include a public patent hearing, simulated administrative adjudication and a comprehensive IP service area. Institutions such as the Reexamination and Invalidation Department of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, China Intellectual Property News, Shanghai Intellectual Property Protection Center and Shanghai Intellectual Property Service Center will provide consultation and dispute resolution.
