Shanghai Jinqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone, alongside the Lester School and Henry Lester Institute of Technical Education, passed Shanghai's city-level trademarks and brand-building project evaluation on March 31.
The two-year project strengthened intellectual property (IP) services and enhanced the IP capacity of enterprises within the zone.
Shanghai Jinqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone registered a total of 27,000 trademarks, marking 4,500 new registrations — a 20 percent increase compared to the pre-project period, with over half of local companies now holding trademarks.
The zone also made substantial strides in international IP, evident through 24 Madrid trademarks registrations and 132 new PCT international patent applications. The integration of IP services into the industrial innovation chain proved instrumental, providing a range of guidance, training and consultation services.

The institute delivered targeted services to key companies, including customized trademarks strategies, full-chain brand management and patent-driven assistance for startups. A total of 28 new startup companies were founded during the project's duration.
The institute also rolled out specialized legal support and brand design management services, including the establishment of a patent dispute resolution office in the North Bund area, further enhancing its capabilities in IP dispute resolution.
