Emilie Stefanuto, secretary-general of the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB), visited the Pudong New Area IP Administration, recognizing local efforts in safeguarding Bordeaux's geographical indication (GI).
CIVB serves as an interprofessional organization that regulates and promotes Bordeaux wines. Stefanuto presented a medal and a letter of appreciation to Pudong New Area IP Administration, praising the administration's contributions to enhancing the brand's market value.
Director Fu Jun of Pudong New Area IP Administration introduced the administration's core functions and recent reforms. He emphasized the importance of intellectual property protection and the ongoing efforts to manage foreign geographical indications.
Fu explained the comprehensive protection mechanism, which has effectively safeguarded innovation. He proposed further strengthening administrative protection for foreign geographical indications, such as "Bordeaux."
Stefanuto commended Pudong's IP protection system, emphasizing its contribution to improving the international business environment. She noted that Pudong's handling of Bordeaux-related trademarks cases has become a model for Shanghai and other regions.
She also observed that Pudong's protection efforts have significantly enhanced the market visibility and brand value of Bordeaux wines, and that these successful practices have been replicated in other parts of China.
Looking ahead, the CIVB plans to increase its investment in China, with a focus on providing higher-quality products and services for the Chinese and Shanghai markets.
