To strengthen foreign-related intellectual property (IP) legal services, Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA) and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice held the first foreign-related IP law firm-enterprise matching salon on Jan 14.

Yu Chen, deputy director-general of SIPA, and Ye Xin, director of the Political Department of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice, attended the event.

Yu highlighted that cultivating foreign-related IP legal talent is vital for the city's competitiveness and innovation strategy. He noted that the foreign-related IP matching platform for law firms and enterprises will integrate resources, foster collaboration, and align legal services with enterprise needs.

Ye emphasized that the bureau is working to connect professionals, enterprises, and industry to promote efficient, in-depth connections. Future efforts will focus on aligning resources through direct dialogue, practical guidance, and sustained dialogue to ensure enterprises have access to the right legal expertise.

The salon gathered 15 foreign-related IP legal talents, 10 IP arbitration representatives recommended by the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, and representatives from 15 enterprises.

Participants held in-depth, practical discussions on patent layouts, compliance risks, and other IP challenges across industries and development stages.
