The 22nd Shanghai International Intellectual Property Sub-Forum and 8th Intellectual Property Operation Conference were held on Oct 20 in Shanghai's Jiading district.
The forum was jointly hosted by the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, Jiading District People's Government, and the Sinoip, a national platform dedicated to facilitating international intellectual property (IP) operations and services.
The event featured the theme "Empowering the Future: A New Paradigm for High-Value Patent Operations in the Era of Artificial Intelligence".
Key officials, including Xiao Wengao, Party secretary of Jiading district, and Le Yucheng, former deputy director of the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA), delivered speeches. The forum emphasized Shanghai's goal to strengthen its position as a global hub for IP protection.

Jiading district reported 98,000 effective patents as of July, including 9,628 high-value invention patents. The district is focusing on advancing IP creation, transformation into real-world applications, and protection, contributing to the city's broader innovation ecosystem.

Le's keynote speech highlighted AI's role in reshaping the global IP landscape, with the potential to enhance patent examination efficiency while posing new challenges such as IP ownership and infringement risks.
Strategic cooperation agreements were signed, and the Sinoip patent valuation model was introduced, offering accurate tools for IP commercialization.
