A sub-forum of the 22nd Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum was held in Shanghai's Xuhui district on Oct 19 under the theme "Intellectual Property (IP) Operation Management in the Era of Artificial Intelligence (AI)".
Experts, officials, and industry leaders explored how AI can enhance innovation, boost efficiency, and strengthen protection in the management of IP.

Yu Chen, deputy director-general of SIPA, said Shanghai will coordinate IP efforts with new quality productive forces, improve technological and institutional backing, commercialize IP results, and reinforce protections to promote innovation.

Wei Lan, deputy head of Xuhui District, said the district — Shanghai's first AI cluster — will integrate AI with IP, advance the Sci-Tech Silk Belt, enhance IP systems, and encourage innovation in emerging industries.

Duan Yong, deputy Party secretary of Shanghai University, said the university, a national IP pilot university, will advance interdisciplinary research, cultivate talent, and collaborate with the government and enterprises on IP management models suitable for the AI era.
The event also launched Shanghai's first full-chain IP protection center, signifying Xuhui district's advancement in developing a comprehensive high-level IP protection ecosystem.
