The 14th China International Patent Fair opened in Dalian on Oct 13, highlighting the vital role of patent commercialization in driving national innovation. Top officials and international representatives joined the event to explore deeper global cooperation in intellectual property protection.
Shen Changyu, commissioner of China National Intellectual Property Administration; Daren Tang Heng Shim, director-general of the World Intellectual Property Organization, and Wang Libo, vice governor of Liaoning province, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Rui Wenbiao, director-general of Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, attended the fair and delivered a keynote speech during the policy briefing on administrative protection.
Rui highlighted three aspects of Shanghai's exemplary work in administrative patent adjudication across three key areas: building a coordinated protection mechanism, streamlining processes to improve enforcement efficiency, and enhancing technical support to address complex disputes.
Rui emphasized that patents are the core carrier of technological innovation. Strengthening patent protection is a constructive force that boosts innovation vitality, empowers industrial growth, and improves the overall business environment.
In a proactive move, Shanghai is advancing its administrative adjudication framework through innovation and collaboration, aiming for digital transformation, stronger coordination, and more focused protection efforts.
The fair gathered representatives from IP authorities, foreign embassies, academia, research institutes, industry association, major enterprises, and media, reinforcing the spirit of global cooperation and development in the IP sector.
