A training session introducing the global service system of the World Intellectual Property Organization or WIPO was held in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area on July 10.

The event attracted over 60 participants from local business enterprises and intellectual property or IP service agencies.

Lyu Guoqiang, head of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Shanghai Service, emphasized WIPO's commitment to providing convenient and efficient IP services to small and medium-sized enterprises, also known as SMEs.

He highlighted the role of time- and cost-efficient alternative dispute resolution (ADR) options in swiftly resolving international IP disputes and expressed the hope that the training would help companies leverage WIPO's global services for their international expansion.

The training included presentations on WIPO's dispute resolution services, as well as strategies and processes for Patent Cooperation Treaty or PCT patent applications and Madrid international trademark registrations.

The market supervision bureau of the Lin-gang Special Area, one of the organizers, reiterated the area's dedication to encouraging businesses to engage with and apply the WIPO service system. They affirmed their commitment to being in line with international trade standards, to empower local businesses in their global ventures.
