On May 29, Rui Wenbiao, director-general of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA), engaged in a productive meeting with Adelaide Barbier, director of the Human Resources Management Department at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and her accompanying delegation. The two parties convened for a working exchange symposium.
Rui warmly welcomed the delegation and provided insights into SIPA's functions and recent advancements. He highlighted Shanghai's ongoing efforts to bolster intellectual property (IP) endeavors and enhance the local business landscape.
Rui expressed eagerness to further actualize the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Shanghai and WIPO, deepen collaborative efforts in IP talent development, and expedite the cultivation of a cadre of proficient, globally-oriented, and interdisciplinary IP professionals.
Barbier expressed gratitude for the gracious reception and outlined WIPO's pivotal initiatives in talent development, alongside its strategies and activities in digital innovation, artificial intelligence, and other pertinent domains.
Beatriz Amorim-Borher, senior director of WIPO's Department for Development Cooperation, shared insights into the IP courses tailored by WIPO for a diverse array of users.
During their sojourn in Shanghai, the delegation visited and carried out inspections at the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Shanghai Service, the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, and relevant enterprises in Xuhui district and Qingpu district.
