At the invitation of the European Patent Office (EPO), Rui Wenbiao, director-general of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA), led a delegation on a visit to EPO's Munich headquarters.

During the visit, Rui and his delegation engaged in discussions with Christoph Ernst, vice-president of EPO, and other officials.
The delegation presented an overview of SIPA and intellectual property (IP) initiatives in Shanghai, while also being briefed by the EPO on its institutional functions, the EU's unified patent system, and AI applications in IP. They also exchanged ideas and held discussions with European counterparts on enhancing IP protection and developing alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in IP-related matters.

The delegation also visited the headquarters of German companies with investments in Shanghai, such as BMW, Beiersdorf, and Boehringer Ingelheim, where they interacted with corporate executives and IP-related personnel.
They also explored the Shanghai Enterprises' Overseas IP Service Station in Munich to learn about overseas IP service offerings and visited the representative office of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Germany to discuss initiatives for promoting IP protection for enterprises at international exhibitions.
