Shanghai forum highlights digital innovation, IP protection

A sub-forum of the 20th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum – the 3rd Yangtze River Delta G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor Intellectual Property Forum – was held in the Songjiang district of East China's Shanghai on Dec 11.

The event focused on digital innovation and intellectual property, or IP protection and launched the Shanghai Songjiang District IP Protection Center.

Yu Chen, deputy director of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration or SIPA, said Shanghai would promote the integrated development of IP rights in the Yangtze River Delta region and accelerate the formulation and pilot work of IP data protection rules.

Liu Fusheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Songjiang District Committee and deputy head of the district, said Songjiang would implement a strong IP district strategy, strengthen cross-regional IP cooperation and innovate policy and system supplies.

The forum also awarded the Shanghai Patent Navigation Service Base in 2023, the National IP Demonstration Enterprises and Advantageous Enterprises in 2023, and the "Songjiang Rice" National Geographical Indication Special Mark Approval and Use Unit.

What's more, the Yangtze River Delta G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor Digital Economy Industry Patent Development Research Report – as well as the Yangtze River Delta G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor Digital Industry IP Alliance – were established and unveiled at the event.

Several patent transfer and license projects and patent transfer insurance and pledge financing projects were signed at the forum.

Experts and academics from various IP rights fields discussed the topics of IP Law in the Digital Age and Business Model Innovation and IP Protection.

The forum was attended by nearly 160 people, including leaders, experts and law enforcement personnel. Also attending were representatives of companies, institutions and colleges and universities from Songjiang and other cities of the Yangtze River Delta G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor.
