Shanghai city in East China has been beefing up its efforts to protect Olympic symbols since the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games kicked off on Feb 4.

The Shanghai intellectual property law enforcement department is understood to have stepped up its efforts on cracking down on the infringement of Olympic symbols.

It is said to have joined forces with the public security, copyright, cyberspace affairs and other local related functional departments to scrutinize every link of a possible infringement.

The IP law enforcement department has carried out internet searches to hunt down illicit acts involving Olympic symbols, mascots and advertising.

The department has also been widely publicizing the protection of Olympic symbols through IP rights protection assistance workstations, trademark and brand guidance stations and IP dispute mediation workshops throughout the city.
