Shanghai moves to establish IP protection center

ensipa.cn|Updated: October 21, 2021

The China National Intellectual Property Administration, or CNIPA, recently approved a request to establish the China (Shanghai) Intellectual Property Protection Center in the city of Shanghai in East China.

The Shanghai center will be the 53rd such center in China and the third – after Beijing and Tianjin – to be in municipalities directly under the central government.

According to officials, the center will provide prompt IP protection for the new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection industries – boosting the development of desirable sectors in Shanghai.

Through the establishment of a rapid collaborative IP protection system, it's expected that the center will link the entire chain – of IP creation, applications, protection, management and services – and help Shanghai become an international IP protection highland.
