Introduction to the 18th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum

Established in 2003 and having been held successfully for 17 times, Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum (the Forum) is an international conference on intellectual property, co-hosted by China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Shanghai Municipal People's Government.

As a high-level international forum in the IP field cohosted by an international organization, a state ministry and a local government, WIPO, CNIPA and Shanghai Municipal People's Government all attach great importance to the Forum's construction and development. The Forum has become a well-known event with great influence in the global IP field and an important window to showcase the development of China's intellectual property cause. 

In order to implement the important spirit concerning "in-depth participation in global IP governance under the framework of WIPO", carry out international cooperation and exchanges in the IP field, and put Shanghai at the international forefront of IP protection, the 18th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum, themed "Intellectual Property Protection and International Cooperation in the Era of Digital Economy", will be held in Shanghai in October 2021.

This Forum will bring together experts, scholars and corporate executives from home and abroad, draw experiences from international leading concepts of IP governance, discuss how to promote IP protection and international cooperation in the era of digital economy, and enhance the soft power of a modern socialist metropolis.

The Forum plans to invite leaders of relevant international and regional IP organizations and delegates from IP authorities and research institutes of relevant countries to speak at the Forum and participate in in-depth discussions with representatives of relevant Chinese government agencies, enterprises, research institutes and service agencies.
